Are you ready for your cover shot?
The Martinsville Bulletin is seeking photographs of the most scenic spot in Henry County and Martinsville for the annual “Picture Perfect” contest. The winning entry will be published March 2 on the cover of the Bulletin’s Progress edition.
Last year’s contest drew 125 entries, all of which were displayed in the Bulletin’s booth at the annual Fast Track trade show. After the show, the photos were displayed at the Bulletin office on Broad Street.
The same thing will be done with this year’s entries, which are due Feb. 13. The photos will be judged on showing the most scenic spot and on the quality of the photograph.
Rules for the contest are:
1. Pictures must be of scenes in Henry County or Martinsville taken in the past 12 months.
2. Only three entries per photographer; only amateur photographers may enter.
3. Pictures may be color or black and white.
4. Each entry must list the photographer’s name, address, phone number, where and when the photograph was taken and any special effects used or circumstances of the photograph. If there are people in the photograph, the entry must include their written permission to reprint the photograph along with the person’s full name age, address, parents (in the cases of juveniles) and telephone number.
5. Entries may be electronic or prints on photography-quality paper. Negatives may be required of winning prints if available. If entries are e-mailed, the entrant should call the Bulletin News Department to make sure the e-mail was received. No entries will be returned. Instead, they will be displayed at the Bulletin’s office.
6. Entrants must include written permission for their photograph to be reprinted in the Martinsville Bulletin and possibly local nonprofit promotional efforts.
7. Judging will be done on the quality of the scene, but the quality of the photograph also will be considered.
8. All entries must be received by the Bulletin News Department by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13.
9. If you have questions, call Bulletin Editor Ginny Wray or Chief Photographer Mike Wray in the News Department at 638-8801 after 1 p.m.
10. Bring entries to the Bulletin at 204 Broad St., or e-mail them to southernva04@yahoo.com. |
