Bassett’s boys soccer team got a 2-2 draw against Christiansburg on Wednesday night on the road.
Christiansburg’s Carl Leift scored the game’s first goal in the 19th minute before Bassett’s Tyler Martin answered with a header on a cornerkick from Tyler Robertson.
Christiansburg took the lead again on an unassisted goal from Leift in the 51st minute before the Bengals’ Jake Sharpe tied the game on an assist from Martin four minutes later.
Bassett (7-3-1 overall, 4-2 Piedmont District) next plays today at 7 p.m. when they travel to Northside.
Softball
McMichael 12
Martinsville 2
Martinsville’s softball team dropped to McMichael 12-2 in five innings of play Wednesday night at McMichael.
Caitlynne Harris went 1-for-1 and stole home, and Mary Grace Hankins also stole home on a wild pitch for Martinsville’s second run.
Defensively, the Lady Bulldogs (2-11 overall) got their first double play of the season when Taylor Eanes caught a fly ball to center field and threw to Brooke Hairston for an out at second when a Phoenix runner failed to tag up.
Courtney Blankenship pitched all five innings and struck out two, walked four, scattered nine hits and allowed seven earned runs.
The Bulldogs next play at 5 p.m. Friday when they travel to Tunstall.

Bassett 14
Magna Vista 8
Bassett’s baseball team defeated Magna Vista on Tuesday, 14-8.
Patrick Martin was credited with the win for the Bengals. He also had two hits, including a double and a home run in the sixth inning, as well as four RBI.
Also at the plate, Mason Mays had two hits, including a three run homer in the seventh. He also scored three runs. Roy Morgan smacked two hits, including a double, and had three RBI. Desmond Woods and Justin Willard each added two hits, and Boo Woods added a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Bassett had a strong lead in the bottom of the sixth, 11-1, before the team gave up seven unearned runs over three hits.
Bassett (7-8, 3-3 PD) will host William Fleming today at 5 p.m.
Track and field
Carlisle’s track and field team placed fourth Tuesday at Forsyth Country Day School.
FCD took first with 236 points, followed by North Davidson (181.5), Highpoint Christian (70), Carlisle (55.5), Wesylvan Christian Academy (47), Greensboro Day School (33) and Guilford Day School (8).
The Chiefs’ Chris Graves took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.3 seconds and third in the 200 with a time of 23.5. Graves also finished sixth in the shot-put with a throw of 38 feet, 3 1/2-inches.
Quintin Watkins took second in the 100 (11.5) as well as the 200 (23.3) and won the long jump with a leap of 19-8 1/2.
Other notable Chiefs were Will Dallas, who took seventh in the 400 with a time of 1:02, and Peter Daniel who finished eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:12.
The Chiefs next compete at 2 p.m. May 9 at the Virginia Independent Conference meet at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg.

Bassett’s tennis team defeated Martinsville 6-3 Tuesday night at Bassett.
The Bengals (4-4 overall, 2-1 PD) took four-of-six singles matches and two-of-three in doubles play.
Bassett next plays today at 4:30 p.m. when they travel to Patrick County.
