Three local men were indicted Monday in connection with an April robbery and malicious wounding, according to records at the county clerk’s office.
Torey Antwain Watkins, 32, of 1006 Independence Drive, Martinsville; DeAngelo Tywan Waller, 27, 46 Kings Air Road, Ridgeway; and Robie Jermaine Cole, 31, of 1237 Westover Drive, Collinsville, were indicted on two counts each use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count each robbery, malicious wounding and armed statutory burglary with intent to commit murder, rape or robbery in connection with an April 22 incident.
Watkins and Waller also each were indicted on one count possession of a firearm by a felon convicted within 10 years.
Cole also was indicted on one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to previous reports, the incident began around 2 a.m., when several men allegedly rushed into an apartment on Halifax Drive in Collinsville, told its two occupants to “get down” and demanded items. A safe that contained a necklace valued at $1,800, other jewelry, a box with letters and a PlayStation were taken, police said at the time.
Bob A. Maddox, then 26, was shot in the right leg, police said. The wound was classified as nonlife-threatening.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt. It is a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.
The three were among the 67 individuals indicted Monday by grand jurors seated in Henry County.
Other indictments included:
• Terrance Milano Hairston, 33, 551 Main St., Ridgeway, on two counts each possession of a firearm by a convicted violent offender and one count each armed statutory burglary with intent to commit murder, rape or robbery; use of a firearm in the commission of a felony; malicious wounding; and maliciously shoot at or within an occupied dwelling, Dec. 12-13.
• Joshua Lee Lovins, 27, 8 Ashley Park Circle, Bassett, on one count each malicious wounding and felony property damage (intentional), March 25.
• Robert Glenn Wagoner Jr., 26, 62 Jessica Ave., Bassett, on one count larceny of bank notes, checks or equivalent, March 11.
• Angela Renee Prater, 33, 2850 Wagon Trail Road, Ridgeway, on one count third-offense larceny, Feb. 27.
• Michael Winterhawk Cook, 26, 1203 Chatham Road, Martinsville, on one count fail to register as a sex offender - felony, Sept. 5, 2007.
• Brandy Lea Spence, 21, 106 Artwood Drive, Fieldale, on one count grand larceny, April 7.
• Carl Evans Hatton Jr., 45, 251 Waycross Drive, Fieldale, on one count grand larceny, Feb. 25, and one count felonious violation of the Habitual Offender Act, second offense, April 18.
• John Junior Mitchell, 40, 108 Crestwood Court, Martinsville, on one count third-offense larceny - shoplifting, April 15.
• Randy Lynn Hall, 45, 2035 Governor Drive, Roanoke, on one count felonious violation of the Habitual Offender Act, second offense, March 29.
• Brock Addison Stanley, 22, 4573 Philpott Drive, Bassett, on one count statutory burglary, April 2.
• Donald James Burton, 21, 6052 U.S. 220 Business Highway, Stoneville, N.C., on one count grand larceny, April 22.
• Sean Aubrey Thomas, 41, 325 Maple Drive, Collinsville, on one count third-offense larceny (shoplifting), Feb. 2.
