A Ridgeway woman was charged with attempted murder in connection with a weekend incident at a Bedford County campground, according to a news release.
Sandra Mikles, 40, of Ridgeway, also was charged with assault and battery, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, said the release from the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the release, dispatchers received a 911 call at 10:30 a.m. Saturday reporting an alleged assault at Eagle’s Roost Camp Ground at 15335 Smith Mountain Parkway in Huddleston. Deputies who arrived were told two women had gotten into a “scuffle” and that when one of the women was leaving in her vehicle, she allegedly “nearly ran over someone,” the release said.
It did not identify that person.
A woman on the scene alleged that she was hit in the head by the woman who was driving the vehicle, the release said. A male at the scene said he was struck in the head with a beer bottle by a male passenger in the same vehicle, according to the release.
Deputies later stopped a vehicle on Smith Mountain Lake Parkway matching the vehicle description and identified Mikles as the driver, the release said. She was arrested and charged, it said.
In addition, one passenger in the vehicle was charged with malicious wounding and another passenger was charged with assault and under-age possession of alcohol. Both of those passengers are 17 years of age and live in Ridgeway.
Mikles is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under no bond, the release said.
The alleged victims are from Staunton, it said. |
