The Martinsville police are searching for a suspect in the wounding of two area residents and the robbery of one of them Tuesday night.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Markee Pritchett, 29, who faces two counts each of aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and one count each of robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all felony charges, according to Martinsville Police Capt. Eddie Cassady.

Pritchett also faces a misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm within the city limits, Cassady said.

The suspect is 6 feet, four inches tall and weighs 195 pounds. His last known address was 212 Massey St., Martinsville, according to Cassady.

Pritchett is sought in connection with the shootings of Anthony Galloway of 492 Fuller St., Axton, and Yolanda Hannah of 904 Palace Court, Cassady said.

One of them was shot in the leg, Cassady said, but he did not know the nature of the other’s injury. One shot was fired, and it hit both victims, he said.

He added that the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The motive for the shooting allegedly was robbery, Cassady said. About $600 in cash allegedly was taken from Galloway in the incident, Cassady said, adding that one of the victims knew Pritchett.

The shooting occurred around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in the Palace Court area near Clearview Drive, Cassady said.

Police received a call of shots being fired. When they arrived at the scene, they found that Galloway and Hannah had been shot while they were inside Hannah’s black Toyota, Cassady said.

By shortly after 9 p.m., police had finished at the crime scene and were interviewing the victims at Memorial Hospital, where they were taken for treatment, Cassady said.

Anyone with information on the incident or Pritchett's whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 63CRIME (2-7463) or the Martinsville Police Department at 276-403-5300.
