MaryJo McNeill of Bassett and Justin Craig Peak of Collinsville were married Aug. 15 at Fort Trial Baptist Church in Stanleytown. Dr. Joseph McNeill, father of the bride, performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Darlene McNeill of Bassett. She is the granddaughter of Joan McNeill of Clinton, S.C., and the late Neal McNeill and Dorothy Craig of Patrick Springs and the late D.C. Craig.
The bridegroom is the son of William and Mary Ann Peak of Collinsville. He is the grandson of Robert Peak of Galax, Avie Peak of Bassett and the late John and Ann Moss.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a strapless lace gown with an A-line skirt and a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of white roses, purple caspia, white stock and green hypericum berries.
Emily M. Wood of Rutherfordton, N.C., was matron of honor. She wore a dark purple sleeveless jersey gown and carried a bouquet similar to that of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Kaylan Bifaro of Dunwoody, Ga., Anna Dean of Falmouth, Ky., and Susan Dalton of Collinsville. Their dresses and bouquets matched those of the matron of honor.
Best men were brothers of the bridegroom Brandon Peak of Las Vegas and Jonathan Peak of Collinsville.
Groomsmen were Jared Pruett and Jordan Pruett, both of Collinsville.
Pianist Dianne Power of Charleston S.C., aunt of the bride, vocalist Cora Beth Akers of Roanoke, and Tennille Handy of Harrisburg provided music.
A reception was held at the church.
The couple took a honeymoon in Charleston.
They live in Blacksburg.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Bassett High School and received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., in 2007.
The bridegroom is a 2004 graduate of Fieldale- Collinsville High School and is slated for May graduation from Virginia Tech, where his major is building construction.
Prior to their wedding, the couple were honored with showers on the following occasions: May 8 in Oceanside, Calif., hosted by Judy Carlisle; May 30 at Shaza Hanafy and Stephanie McGee’s house in San Diego, hosted by a small group from Flood Church; May 24 in Stanleytown, hosted by Fort Trial Baptist Church; Aug. 2 in Patrick Springs, hosted by Linda Kennedy; and Aug. 9 in Collinsville, hosted by Stone Memorial Christian Church.
