By AMANDA BUCK - Bulletin Staff Writer
Police are searching for two suspects in an armed robbery that was reported Sunday in uptown Martinsville.
A female employee of Dollar Tree in Liberty Fair Mall told police that she went to SunTrust Bank uptown to make a deposit when two black males approached her on foot, said city spokesman Scott Coleman.
“Both of them appeared to be armed with handguns,” Coleman said.
One of the men allegedly grabbed the deposit bag, and both fled on foot, Coleman said. The bag contained “an undisclosed amount of currency,” he said.
Police are searching for two men in their 20s, Coleman said. One was described as a light-skinned black man of medium build wearing a gray hooded shirt or jacket and light khaki pants, Coleman said. The other was described as having a darker complexion and was wearing a black hooded shirt or jacket and blue jeans, according to Coleman.
The incident happened at 6:20 p.m. on East Church Street.
Anyone with information is asked to call the 911 Communications Center at 638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 632-7463.
