A North Carolina man wanted in connection with the shooting death of one man and the wounding of another Tuesday in Irisburg has turned himself in to authorities, Henry County Sheriff Lane Perry said Thursday afternoon.
Tremain Alando Thomas, 20, of 117 Springdale Drive in Stoneville, N.C., was wanted on charges of second-degree murder, malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The charges are in connection with the death of Akoreon JaJuantez “A.J.” Murphy, 22, of 207 Madison St. in Eden, N.C., and the wounding of Demarcus LaVon Hairston of Martinsville.
Hairston, who was shot in the neck area, was treated and released Tuesday at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, police have said.
Murphy was found shot to death inside a Chevrolet Impala around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Irisburg and Hobson roads. Police believe the shooting was drug-related, according to Perry and Lt. Ricky Walker.
Perry initially said Thomas was in custody Thursday evening at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. However, the sheriff said later that Thomas was being held in North Carolina.
