Henry County Board of Supervisors Chairman Debra Buchanan is known for her long hair that she always wears in a braid atop her head. Recently, however, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In anticipation of losing her hair during treatments, she decided to cut it on Monday. She is shown at right before it was cut by her long-time friend Ginger Painter of Your Hair Stylist (at right in photo at left). Afterward, Buchanan said it has been 45 years since she had short hair but she was so pleased with her new look (shown at left) that she just may keep her hair short after her treatments end. She is donating her cut hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization which provides hairpieces to children and teenagers who suffer from long-term hair loss. (Contributed photos) |
