| 18-year-old among dozens indicted on various counts |

Henry County grand jurors on Monday indicted an 18-year-old in connection with another teenager’s death in a traffic accident.
Jose Lorenzo Justice, 18, of 120 Applewood Road, Martinsville, was indicted Monday on one count of aggravated DUI (driving under the influence) manslaughter in connection with the March 1 death of a Collinsville youth.
Jonathan Wayne “J-Hub” Hubbard Jr., 18, died in the crash after he was ejected from the passenger seat of a 2000 Ford Mustang traveling on Seminole Drive (Virginia 797), just north of U.S. 220, police said at the time.
The vehicle veered off the right side of the road and overturned, according to previous reports.
Another youth, 17 at the time, was injured in the crash. That person’s name was not released.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said then.
Hubbard, who was a senior and a football player at Bassett High School, was on the wrestling team and was homecoming prince.
A trial is set Jan. 6, said Henry County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Andrew Nester.
Also indicted Monday was John Clifford Simms Sr., also known as Johnny Simms, 72, of 11387 Greensboro Road, Ridgeway.
Simms was indicted on three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and use of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of possess a firearm by a convicted violent felon, all in connection with a Jan. 26 incident.
According to previous reports, the charges were in connection with an incident on Self Lane in Ridgeway.
Also among the 57 people indicted Monday were:
• Courtney Janet Wright, 24, 825 Keel St., Martinsville, two counts maliciously shoot at or within an occupied dwelling and one count each of shoot from a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice and obstruction of justice in connection with illegal drug distribution or conspiracy, March 31.
• Judy Carolyn Pruitt, 48, 107 Shannon Lane, Eden, N.C., embezzlement, People’s Church of the Living God, between Jan. 1, 2004, and Nov. 30, 2009.
• Damian Michael Wolfe, 20, 40 Phantom Lane, Ridgeway, eluding police by endangerment with speeds 20 mph or more over the speed limit, April 4.
• Allen Wayne Cobbler, 60, 935 Blankenship Road, Martinsville, assault and batter a police officer, Feb. 22.
• Viredis Niko Akers, 22, 126 Bell Court, Danville, eluding police by endangerment with speeds 20 mph or more over the speed limit, Feb. 23.
• Chelsea Angelique Jones, 19, 5146 Preston Road, Martinsville, grand larceny, March 16.
• Joshua Lee Hylton, 21, 192 Erwin St., Martinsville, malicious wounding, May 8.
