By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS -
An Axton man is wanted in North Carolina in connection with a shooting Friday near Eden, N.C., according to a news release from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office.
Akeem Laquan "Quan" Clark, 20, of 109 Mars Drive, Axton, is wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, the release said.
According to the release and public information officer Dean Venable, Eric Lamont Blackstock was shot in the chest "more than one time" while arguing with a man at a party on Moir Mill Road outside Eden. The men argued over the communities where they live, the Draper area of Eden and the "Logtown area of Virginia," Venable said.
Logtown is a name for the Sandy Level community in Henry County.
Blackstock was hospitalized after the shooting and had been upgraded from critical to serious condition Monday, Venable said.
Clark was identified as a suspect in connection with the case, the release said. He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 170 pounds. He has multiple tattoos, including one on the front of his right arm that says "Logtown," the release states.
Clark "is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached," the release states. Anyone with information is asked to call the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office at (336) 634-3232; Rockingham Crimestoppers at (336) 349-9683; or 911.
"We'd like to find him," Venable said. "If anyone has any information, call us. We'd really appreciate it."
