BREAKING NEWS: Plane crashes in Ridgeway
Two people taken to a hospital after incident

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

By DEBBIE HALL - Bulletin Staff Writer

Two people were taken to the hospital after their small Cessna plane crashed Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Tyler Road in Ridgeway, near Pace Airport.

Virginia State Police Trooper Noah Knight said a pilot and one passenger were in the craft at the time of the crash.

Both were talking to Knight before they were taken to the hospital for treatment, the trooper said.

The plane apparently failed to pick up enough speed to clear a hedge row of trees, clipping some of the limbs on a large poplar tree, Knight said.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified of the incident and FAA agents were en route to the site, Knight said.
