In terms of lives lost in deaths ruled suicide:
• Virginia: There were 11,815 suicide deaths from 1997-2010, including 982 in 2010.
• Henry County: There were 177 suicide deaths from 1997-2010, including 16 in 2010.
• Martinsville: There were 39 suicide deaths from 1997-2010, including two in 2010.
• Patrick County: There were 65 suicide deaths from 1997-2010, including six in 2010.
• Franklin County: There were 95 suicide deaths from 1997-2010, including four in 2010.
Those four localities comprise the West Piedmont Health District.
