Bassett man dies in wreck

A Bassett man died at the scene of a one-vehicle accident early Sunday, according to the Virginia State Police.
Edward Marshall Moore, 52, of Bassett, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release from Sgt. Robert Carpentieri of the state police.
The accident occurred about 7:28 a.m. Sunday on Virginia 687 just south of Virginia 832 in the Bassett area. A 1993 Ford Ranger pickup ran off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and then a tree, the release stated.
Moore was not wearing a safety belt, the release stated.
No additional information was available from the state police Sunday.
