Sarah Garnet Cobbler and Cody Allan Moorefield II, both of Bassett, were married on Feb. 19 at People’s Church of the Living God in Bassett. Pastor Carl Keith performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of David and Ruth Cobbler of Martinsville. She is the granddaughter of George and Sue Cobbler and Daphne Jarrett, all of Martinsville, and the late Thomas B. “Pete” Jarrett.
The bridegroom is the son of Cody and Kristina Moorefield of Bassett. He is the grandson of Mary Lynn Timchak of Florida, Julian Wright of Portsmouth and the late Loretta “Dean” Wright, and the late Larry W. Moorefield.
The bride was escorted by Shane Moorefield, nephew of the bridegroom. She wore a gown with one strap covered in white fabric roses and an elbow-length veil. She carried a bouquet of purple roses and baby’s breath.
Maids of honor were cousins of the bride Ashley Johnson and Brandee Johnson, both of Martinsville. They wore purple dresses with sequins and carried bouquets of purple roses.
Bridesmaids were daughters of the bridegroom Angelina Moreton of Bassett, and Arianna Moorefield and Savannah Moorefield, both of Martinsville. They wore purple dresses with black lace flowers and carried bouquets of purple roses.
The father of the bridegroom was the best man.
Groomsmen were uncle of the bridegroom Steve Moorefield of Portsmouth, brother of the bride Ethan Cobbler of Martinsville, and cousin of the bride Jacob Shuler of Martinsville.
A reception was held at the church.
The couple live in Bassett.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Magna Vista High School, attended Patrick Henry Community College and is a 2009 graduate of Averett University. She is employed by PCCA Headstart.
The bridegroom attended Patrick Henry Community College. He is a pipefitter and works with HVAC.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: Jan. 20, a bridal shower at the Collinsville Curves, hosted by Kristina Moorefield; Feb. 5, a dinner and shower at Texas Steakhouse, hosted by the staff of Jacque’s Jewelers; and Feb. 3, a shower at the home of Ruth Cobbler, hosted by her and Sue Cobbler.
