Boucher endorses Flaccavento in 9th

Former 9th District U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher on Friday endorsed the man seeking to regain that seat for the Democratic Party.
Anthony Flaccavento has helped promote economic development and create jobs, helped farmers find new markets for the crops and “pointed to new ways we can use the region’s assets to far higher advantage,” Boucher said in a conference call with the media from Abingdon, where both he and Flaccavento live.
Boucher, who represented the 9th District for 28 years before he lost the seat to Salem Republican Morgan Griffith two years ago, said Flaccavento has helped start local farmers markets and promoted a tourism economy, which he said is one of the “great economic strengths” of the Abingdon area.
