BREAKING NEWS: Wife charged with wounding husband

A Henry County woman has been charged with malicious wounding of her husband Thursday night in Henry County, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Sarah Ward Hairston, 45, of 551 Lakewood Trail in Henry County, also has been charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, the release stated. All charges are felonies, it added.
Hairston was jailed without bond, according to the release.
Around 11:05 p.m. Thursday, the 911 Center received a call that an individual had been shot at 551 Lakewood Trail, the release stated. Deputies arrived at the residence and discovered that Cornelius Pernell Brim, 37, of that address, had a single gunshot to the front of his right shoulder, according to the release.
Brim, who is Hairston’s husband, was taken to Memorial Hospital in Martinsville where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury, according to the release.
