A former local pastor wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Danville was arrested Saturday night, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.
Lawrence Winford Roy, 47, who formerly was pastor of God’s Holy Church in Christ on Fayette Street in Martinsville, was arrested around 8:10 p.m. Saturday during a traffic stop in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the release said.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department arrested Roy as a fugitive from Virginia, the release said. He will be extradited at a later date, it said without elaborating.
A grand larceny warrant was issued for Roy in connection with a June 18 robbery at the Bank of America at 3205 Riverside Drive in Danville, according to earlier information released by the Danville police. The amount of money taken in the incident has not been disclosed.
