By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS -
Martinsville Mustangs relief pitcher Dylan Wolchik surrendered three runs, erasing six shutout innnings from starting pitcher Jake Lambert, and the Mustangs fell to Morehead City 3-1 on Thursday in Morehead City.
The Mustangs (9-18) leapt out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning against the Marlins (10-16) on an RBI-double from Adam Pendleton that knocked in Ryan Bull.
But that would be all the offense the Mustangs would muster.
Lambert threw six shutout innings and allowed hits from four of the 21 batters he faced. Lambert picked up a no-decision in the game after leaving the game with the lead. Wolchik (0-1) picked up the loss after giving up three runs on four hits in the seventh inning.
A.J. Goetz (1-0) picked up the win for the Marlins in relief.
Morehead City scored its three runs with a single from Robbie Rea and a two-RBI single through the right side from Corey Bass.
Martinsville had six hits in the game. Ryan Bull was the lone Mustang with multiple hits. He had two, and was the only Martinsville player to score in the game.
The Mustangs play again tonight in Fayetteville against the SwampDogs.
