By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS -
Names have been released of three people who were taken to the hospital Monday as a result of a traffic accident that claimed the lives of two others.
According to Trooper Noah Knight of the Virginia State Police, Edward William Dillard, who is in his early 50s, of Amherst County; Michael James Murray, 34, of Ridgeway; and Debbie Scott, 41, of Martinsville, were taken to Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Sandy Holmes, RN nursing supervisor at Memorial, said Tuesday that Dillard and Scott went home, and no information about Murray was available in the computer system.
Knight indicated Monday that he believed Murray did not require hospitalization.
Murray’s wife, Kathleen Ann Murray, 29, of Ridgeway, and William Roy Ingram, 34, of Martinsville, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at about 9:30 a.m. Monday on U.S. 58 about two-tenths of a mile east of Soapstone Road in the Horsepasture area, according to information previously released.
The Murrays’ 7-month-old son was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C., for treatment, Knight has said. Information about the condition of the child, whose name was not released, was unavailable Tuesday.
Knight has said the investigation is continuing, but he doesn’t anticipate charges will be filed.
