An autopsy will be performed on the body of a 29-year-old man found Sunday in Bassett, according to Henry County Sheriff Lane Perry.
The sheriff’s office received a call at 11:20 a.m. reporting an unresponsive person at 3074 Columbus Drive, Perry said. Officers arrived and found the deceased man, the sheriff said.
“It doesn’t appear he was the victim of any type of obvious trauma,” Perry said, “but we can’t say for certain.”
The remains of the man, whose name was not released, were taken to Roanoke for autopsy, Perry said. He said he is hopeful the medical examiner’s office will do the autopsy today.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 638-8751.
