Leigh Anna Smith and Joshua Carl Sullivan, both of Richmond, were married on Nov. 5 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Roanoke. Monsignor Thomas G. Miller performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Susan P. Smith of Ridgeway and the late William Clarence Smith III. She is the granddaughter of William Clarence Smith of Martinsville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Glen H. Prillaman.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivan of Roanoke. He is the grandson of Phyliss Heiss of Shelby, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sullivan of Omaha, Neb.
The bride was escorted by her grandfather. She wore a silk satin ball gown with ruching, a hand-draped skirt and cabbage rose accents. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis, white and cream roses, hydrangeas and heather.
Lisa Johnson of Roanoke was the maid of honor. She wore a dark purple taffeta A-line dress and carried a nosegay or Sahara roses, stargazer lilies and heather.
Bridesmaids were Heather Shivley of Ridgeway, Carrie Lytton of Holly Springs, N.C., Emily Baker of Richmond and Ashley Johnson of Williamsburg. Their dresses and bouquets matched those of the maid of honor.
David Miller of Roanoke was the best man.
Groomsmen were Preston McGhee of Roanoke, Jason Downs of Warrenton, and Tim Johnson and Greg VanPelt, both of Richmond.
William Tyler Smith of Ridgeway was the usher.
Morgan Robison of Roanoke was the greeter.
A reception was held at the Corinthian Ballroom in Roanoke.
The couple took a honeymoon in Italy.
They live in Richmond.
The bride, a graduate of Radford University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management, is a trainer for Xpedx, based in Loveland, Ohio.
The bridegroom, a graduate of Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor’s degree in economics, is a sales professional for Tyler Union, based in Tyler, Texas.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on July 9, 2011, an engagement party at the Roanoke home of Brady and Martha Anderson, hosted by the bride’s family; Aug. 13, a wedding shower at the Ridgeway home of Linda Johnson, hosted by her, Lisa Johnson and Emily Baker; Oct. 22, a brunch at the Ridgeway home of Nancy Bradshaw, hosted by Class 7 of Horsepasture Christian Church; and Nov. 4, a rehearsal dinner at Metamorphosis in Roanoke, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sullivan.
