Memorial Hospital has a new interior look, complete with new artwork from Piedmont Arts Association.

Piedmont Arts recently placed some pieces from its gallery in the lobby of Memorial Hospital.

Memorial Hospital has been renovating the lobby and other parts of the hospital to give them a “more modern look ... and relaxing-type feel” like a hotel, said Ryan Shepherd, director of marketing and public relations at the hospital.

PAA’s Brandon Adams, director of exhibitions, and Bernadette Moore, director of marketing and public relations, were at the hospital on Thursday setting up even more artwork in a glass case along a wall in the lobby.

Piedmont Arts will bring in new artwork every several months, Shepherd said.

Renovations began at the hospital about two weeks ago. The lobby walls have been painted pastel colors of blue, green and tan to go along with the new artwork from Piedmont Arts, Shepherd said.

Recently, the Sleep Center at the hospital was renovated with new paint, new bedding and new television sets in the rooms. Painting also is being done in the Labor and Delivery Women’s Center, and new televisions and bedding are being placed in the rooms, Shepherd added.

The goal of all the work is “to brighten up the look of the hospital,” Shepherd said.

A completion date for the renovations is unknown, but Shepherd said upgrades will continue throughout this year and next year.
