Chairman: New jobs expected

Henry County anticipates positive economic news soon that it hopes will help offset the loss of 335 jobs announced Friday by MasterBrand Cabinets Inc., according to Jim Adams, chairman of the Henry County Board of Supervisors.
“There has been some ongoing discussions with a business. We do anticipate those discussions will mean some positive good news in the very near future and will mean some additional jobs to our area,” Adams said.
He said he expects that “any forthcoming announcement ... will create opportunities for displaced workers to seek employment.” He declined to elaborate.
Adams made his comments in response to MasterBrand’s announcement Friday that it will cease production in Martinsville on Friday.
