A warrant was issued for a man wanted for questioning in connection with the investigation of the death of a Ridgeway resident, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are searching for Arthur Gene McClard, 37, a white male who last was seen Monday walking in the Southeast neighborhood of Roanoke, the release stated.
McClard is wanted on an outstanding warrant of larceny of a motor vehicle, the release stated.
“We have warrants for larceny of a motor vehicle at this time ... and we need to question him in reference to this case,” the release stated.
Joyce Daily Mitchell, 74, was found dead Monday night at 270 King Air Avenue, Ridgeway.
Authorities found Mitchell after responding to calls from neighbors and family who were concerned about her well-being, according to previous reports.
The cause of death has not been released.
However, Mitchell’s vehicle, a 1998 maroon 4-door Chrysler Concorde, was found Monday. It had been abandoned on the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 124, authorities have said.
The vehicle had not been reported stolen, police have said.
When last seen, McClard was wearing a light blue shirt, blue or black sweatpants and white tennis shoes, the release stated.
Although the photo released by police is recent, McClard now has no facial hair and his head is shaved, according to the release.
Anyone who sees McClard, or who has any information about his whereabouts, is asked to contact local authorities immediately.

Following is the earlier story on this subject:
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Monday night as a homicide, the sheriff said.
The body of Joyce Daily Mitchell, 74, 270 King Air Ave., Ridgeway, was found in the home at 5:34 p.m. after neighbors and family called the sheriff’s office asking them to do a well-being check at the home, Henry County Sheriff Lane Perry said Monday night. Perry said the cause of death had not been released.
Around the same time Monday, Perry said, Mitchell’s vehicle, a 1998 maroon 4-door Chrysler Concorde, was discovered abandoned at mile marker 124 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The vehicle had not been reported stolen before it was found, Perry said.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone in the area who had seen the vehicle Monday or noted any suspicious activity in the area to call 656-4200.
