BREAKING NEWS: Franklin County to move to PD

Franklin County High School will be joining the Piedmont District in the 2013-14 school year by virtue of a closed session decision of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Executive Committee on Wednesday, according to Martinsville athletic director Tommy Golding.
The Executive Committee voted to uphold an appeal from the River Ridge District to remove Franklin County from the proposed River Ridge District for the 2013-14 school year
The VHSL Redistricting and Reclassification Committee (R&R) initially had rejected a similar appeal from the River Ridge in August.
The River Ridge’s appeal was only to remove Franklin County from its district and did not suggest that the Eagles be placed in the Piedmont District. But Golding said the Executive Committee made that decision on its own.
