Harvest to announce 'next phase' of NCI Tuesday
Monday, September 24, 2012
The Harvest Foundation will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a release from Allyson Rothrock, president of the agency.
The foundation “will announce an exciting next phase in our partnership with the New College Institute” during the news conference that will be held on the Baldwin Block at the intersection of Moss and Church streets in Martinsville, the release stated.
NCI has said it plans to build a three-story, 50,000-square-foot building on the Baldwin Block that mainly would be used for advanced manufacturing and health care programs which the college intends to start.
Construction is estimated to cost $10 million to $15 million. NCI’s private fundraising arm, the New College Foundation, plans to raise the money.
Representatives with that foundation, as well as NCI and Harvest, will be present at the news conference.
Martinsville City Council has donated the Baldwin Block, named after the late local physician and philanthropist Dr. Dana O. Baldwin, to NCI.
Harvest generally matches state funds to NCI.
