Republican U.S. Senate candidate George Allen was leading Democrat Tim Kaine more than two to one in donations of $200 or more by people with ZIP codes in Henry County and Martinsville, according to data on the Virginia Public Access Project website last week.
Of the total $28,756 in contributions listed for those ZIP codes, Allen received $20,750 (about 72.2 percent) and Kaine, $8,006 (27.8 percent).
The donations were made during the 2011-12 election cycle, and the most recent local contribution listed was June 27.
For Allen, 17 contributions totaling $17,800 were listed for ZIP code 24112 (Martinsville), including: Elizabeth M. Walker, contributions totaling $5,000; L.D.
