Harvest gives to NCI
Thursday, November 8, 2012
The New College Foundation has received $4,894,230 from The Harvest Foundation to support academic programs at the New College Institute (NCI).
William Wampler, NCI’s executive director, said the funds match state funds being provided to the institute for two years. A little extra also is being provided, he said, to help with new programs the institute is developing in advanced manufacturing, health care and entrepreneurism.
The New College Foundation is NCI’s private fundraising arm.
Wampler said he is excited about what this funding will mean for the future of NCI and for the community.
“Harvest Foundation’s continued and significant support allows us to be creative in the work we do with our university partners and with business-industry, enabling us to offer innovative academic programs as well as traditional degree programs,” Wampler said in the release.
The funds are in addition to the $8 million committed by Harvest to the construction of a new NCI facility uptown on Baldwin Block, according to Harvest Program Director Angela Logan.
