Cause of Fieldale fire unknown

The cause of an Oct. 27 fire in Fieldale is not known.
The blaze will be listed as undetermined, according to Henry County Fire Marshal Pete Draper.
“I don’t like that” officials were unable to determine the cause of the blaze, “but there’s just not a whole lot left” to sift through, Draper said.
The 90-year-old building was considered a total loss, investigators have said.
An insurance investigator for the building’s owner agreed with Draper’s finding, he said.
Draper said he is not sure if the gutted remains of the building will be torn down and rebuilt.
The building actually was two structures that appeared to be one. Facing Field Avenue, the left side housed Patterson Vending Services Inc., which has found temporary quarters, according to employees.
The right side of the building housed Pro Source, a flooring/finishing company owned by Cathy Joyce, Draper said.
He was told that business also will continue to operate, but he does not know where it will locate.
Neither business owner could be reached for comment.
The Fieldale Volunteer Fire Department, located next door to the burned building, sustained some smoke damage but no structural damage, Draper said.
Draper anticipated the fire department will remain in its current location.
