Man charged with arson in Stella blaze

A Spencer man was charged with arson in connection with the blaze that destroyed a home in Stella.
Jeffrey Allen Bowman, 39, of Spencer, was charged Thursday with arson of an unoccupied dwelling in connection with a fire, Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said.
Multiple county fire departments and officers responded to the 12:57 a.m. Thursday call to a vacant home located on Stella Loop, in the Stella community of Patrick County, Smith said.
Patrick deputy Dan Gray saw a man near the fire scene and conducted an interview, Smith said.
Bowman was subsequently arrested and is being held in the Patrick County Jail under $5,000 secured bond, according to the sheriff.
The home was destroyed, he added.
