Felony charges were issued against a Martinsville man and Henry County authorities also are searching for a second person allegedly involved in an incident Wednesday.

Warrants were issued for Joshua Lee Hylton, 23, of 192 Erwin St., Martinsville, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Hylton is charged with robbery, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the incident, the release stated.

That night, the Martinsville/Henry County Emergency 911 Center received a call from Memorial Hospital in Martinsville that an individual was in the emergency room who reported that he had been shot during a robbery, according to the release.

The victim, Chance Brandon Combs, 28, told authorities that he was walking with two individuals when one of them allegedly tried to hit him. Combs said he began to fight with the two and subsequently was shot in the left side of the chest and the left thigh, according to the release.

Combs then fell to the ground and his alleged attackers took $240 from his pocket before fleeing the scene, the release stated.

Combs was treated for non life-threatening injuries and released, according to authorities.

Authorities are searching for Hylton, and anyone with any information about the case or Hylton’s whereabouts is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463).

The investigation into the identity of the second alleged attacker is ongoing.

The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $1,000 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
