Grand Jury issues indictments
88 issued against 47 people

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Grand jurors in Henry County on Monday issued 88 indictments which were released to the public, and more sealed were until Nov. 28 or when an arrest is made.

According to an order filed by Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney Bob Bushnell, the indictments that were sealed are for charges not alleged at preliminary hearings.

He wrote that the “defendants named in such indictments may not expect to be indicted” and temporarily “sealing such indictments would improve the ability of police to locate and arrest such defendants and would reduce the risk of intimidation.”

The order was signed by Henry County Circuit Court Judge David Williams.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt. It is a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to hold a trial.
