The Bassett girls basketball team eased past Halifax County 58-35 on Friday in South Boston.
Kaliya Barbour and Andrea Venable both reached double digits for the Bengals, with Barbour leading the way with 14 points.
Venable scored 11 and added five steal and four assists. Three BHS players — Kelsey Wyatt, Aymbir Manns-Massey and Simone Venable — finished with seven points.
The Bengals (4-1) finished with 26 steals in the win, and Bassett’s junior varsity team also defeated the Comets.
Bassett will host Carroll County in its next game on Monday at BHS.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Patrick Co. 61
The Patrick County High School boys basketball team fell 94-61 to Floyd County on Friday.
Marquise Nowlin led the Cougars (2-3) with 18 points despite being in foul trouble most of the game. Tre Penn added 13 points for Patrick County.
Caleb Tanner had 32 points for Floyd County, who led 49-30 at halftime.
In its next game, Patrick County will host Chatham at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Stuart.
