Extended holiday possible if county, PSA approve proposal
Monday, December 17, 2012
County and PSA employees may get a couple of extra holidays if a proposal is approved by the Henry County Board of Supervisors and the PSA Board of Directors.
Supervisors are scheduled to consider a request on Tuesday to give county employees the additional holidays of Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Dec. 31, contingent on similar action by the PSA board.
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and on Jan. 1 are already considered holidays for state and county employees, board documents show.
The state approved the added holidays of Dec. 26 and Dec. 31 for its employees, according to board documents.
County Administrator Tim Hall asked the supervisors to consider extending the extra holidays to county employees as well, as a way to show appreciation “to a group that’s gone without a pay raise for several years” and to match what the state has provided for its employees, board documents stated.
The same recommendation was scheduled to be made to the PSA Board of Directors on Dec. 17, and Hall will report on that board’s decision at the supervisor’s meeting.
