Allison Kaye Hylton of Richmond and Steven Hubbard Hite of Kenbridge were married on Sept. 29 at Mayo Christian Church in Spencer. Curt Ashley performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Kathy Hylton of Spencer. She is the granddaughter of Betty Hylton and Dallas Hylton, both of Spencer; Nancy Garner of Eden, N.C.; and the late Bobby Hooker and Vernon Garner.

The bridegroom is the son of Tommy and Carolyn Hite of Kenbridge. He is the grandson of Hugh and Yvonne Hubbard of Midlothian and the late John and Lee Hite.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a one-shoulder taffeta gown with a trumpet silhouette and a chapel-length train and a handmade chapel-length veil given to her by a bridesmaid. She carried a bouquet of white dahlias held together with burlap and pearl pins.

Matrons of honor were sisters of the bride Leigh Anne Hylton Gravatt of Chesterfield and Amy Hylton Morey of Atlanta. Like the bridesmaids, they wore gray dresses with one shoulder and carried three red dinner-plate dahlias with twine and greenery.

Bridesmaids were cousin of the bride Alicia Pigg of Spencer, Susanne Washburn of Ridgeway, Stacy Few of Martinsville, Katera Smith of High Point, N.C., and Jenna Kolesar of Richmond.

Flower girls were nieces of the bride Kursten Hylton, daughter of Jay and Mary Hylton of Spencer, and Jillian Gravatt, daughter of Justin and Leigh Anne Gravatt; and nieces of the bridegroom Mary Katelyn and Janie Hite, daughters of John and Kristin Hite of Kenbridge, and Audrey Hite, daughter of Richard and Mindy Hite of Kenbridge.

Best man was the father of the bridegroom.

Groomsmen were brothers of the bridegroom Richard Hite, John Hite and David Hite; cousin of the bridegroom Samuel Bacon of Blackstone; J.W. Gee of Boydton; and Josh Overby of Kenbridge.

Brother of the bride Jay Hylton was the usher.

Ring bearers were nephews of the bride Jackson Gravatt, son of Justin and Leigh Anne Gravatt, and Christian Hylton, son of Jay and Mary Hylton; and nephews of the bridegroom Benjamin Hite, son of John and Kristin Hite, and Robert and Parker Hite, sons of Richard and Mindy Hite.

Susan Shelton of Spencer played the piano, and Melissa Ashley and LeAnne Durham, both of Spencer, sang.

A reception was held in the bride’s parents back yard in a barn her father built.

The couple took a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

They live in Kenbridge.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Magna Vista High School and a 2007 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a bachelor’s degree in clinical radiation sciences. She is a radiation therapist at VCU Massey Cancer Center in Richmond.

The bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Central Lunenburg High School and a 2005 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in business administration. He is a sales representative for Carter Machinery in South Hill.

Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: Dec. 3, 2011, a cocktail party in Kenbridge, hosted by the parents of the bridegroom; March 10, an engagement party in Kenbridge, hosted by Richard and Mindy Hite, John and Kristin Hite and David Hite; May 5, a bridal brunch in Midlothian, hosted by Yvonne Hubbard; July 28, a couples wedding shower at Smith Mountain Lake, hosted by Alicia Pigg, Susanne Washburn and Stacy Few; Aug. 4, a bridal shower at Mayo Christian Church, hosted by Kathy Hylton, Amy Morey and Leigh Anne Gravatt; Aug. 24, a dinner party hosted by Jane Clarke at her house; Sept. 2, a honeymoon shower in Charleston, S.C., hosted by Amy Morey and Leigh Anne Gravatt; and Sept. 28, a rehearsal dinner at the Dutch Inn, hosted by the parents of the bridegroom.
