Former teacher indicted
Wednesday, January 23, 2013
A former high school teacher was among the 71 people indicted Tuesday by a Henry County grand jury.
Luke Sebastian Flora, 30, 7 Ebb Drive, Bassett, was indicted on six counts of taking indecent liberty with a minor while maintaining a custodial/supervisory position over such minor, according to court records.
The charges are in connection with alleged incidents on May 12, 20, 24, 25 and June 1 and 3 in Henry County.
Flora is a former Bassett High School teacher who admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old female on six occasions, according to a criminal complaint.
All the charges are felonies, the complaint stated.
Officials have said that none of the alleged incidents occurred on school property.
Flora was suspended from his job when the initial charges were filed. Commonwealth’s Attorney Bob Bushnell said in November that Flora had resigned from the Henry County School System.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt. It is a grand jury’s determination that there is enough evidence to hold a trial.
