Betty Call Gauldin of Collinsville and James Ralph Thompson of Bassett were married on Sept. 29 at Horsepasture Christian Church in Ridgeway. Minister David Cuthbertson performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Call.
The bridegroom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Thompson.
The bride was escorted by her brother Billy Call of Boones Mill. She wore a royal blue A-line gown with a fitted lace, sequin and bead bodice and a flowing skirt of chiffon and a short train. She carried a bouquet of white roses and carnations with royal blue ribbons and baby’s breath.
Matron of honor was daughter of the bride Tonya G. Carter of Martinsville.
The bride’s attendants were daughter of the bridegroom Jill Thompson of Bassett, daughter-in-law of the bridegroom Elesia Thompson of Stuart and daughter-in-laws of the bride Lisa Brooks of Trinity, N.C., and Kim Brooks of Cary, N.C. The matron of honor and attendants wore coordinating dresses in shades of light to navy blue. They carried bouquets of white carnations with royal blue ribbons.
Flower girl was great-niece of the bride Lili Call, daughter of Jeremy and Jessica Call of Rocky Mount.
Best man was son of the bridegroom Greg Thompson of Bassett.
Groomsmen were son of the bridegroom Duane Thompson of Stuart, sons of the bride Barry Brooks of Trinity and Doug Brooks of Cary, and son-in-law of the bride Gil Carter of Martinsville.
Ushers were grandsons of the bride Wade Brooks and Tyler Brooks of Trinity, Will Brooks of Cary and Justin Morris of Martinsville.
A program of wedding music was provided by Gil Lancaster on piano, grandson of the bride Will Brooks of Cary, N.C., on guitar, and Jerry Haga of Ridgeway on saxophone.
A reception was held in the church’s social hall.
The couple took a honeymoon in New England to see the fall foliage.
They live in Collinsville.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: June 16, celebration of engagement at the home of the bride, hosted by Wayne and Betty Gauldin and Joan and Larry Barker; Aug. 11, a family picnic and shower at the home of Wayne and Charlotte Bryant hosted by Charlotte and Karen Bryant and the Thompson family; Aug. 31, a dinner at the Dutch Inn hosted by Virgil and Brenda Thompson; and Sept. 14, an ice cream social and gift card party at the home of Levi and Glenda Mays hosted by Lajuan Hodges, Glenda Mays, Lillie Mae Merriman and Gloria Vipperman.
