BREAKING NEWS: Fatal accident in Henry County

A Martinsville man died Wednesday at the scene of a head-on collision in Henry County, according to a release from the Virginia State Police.
Tommy Lee Earles, 43, of Martinsville, died at the scene of the crash that occurred around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday on Virginia 687, just south of Virginia 627 in Henry County, the release stated.
The preliminary investigation showed that a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker was traveling southbound on Virginia 687 when it collided with a 2003 Ford Explorer that was traveling northbound, the release stated.
Earles was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.
Information about the operator of the Explorer was not available, according to the release.
