Preliminary autopsy results: No obvious signs of injury to child
Three-year-old died Monday

Preliminary results of an autopsy on a 3-year-old child who died Monday at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville showed no obvious signs of injury, according to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
The autopsy was performed Tuesday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia in Roanoke, the release stated.
It added that the complete autopsy report will be pending toxicology results, and the investigation is continuing.
A news release issued Monday by the sheriff’s office stated that the Martinsville/Henry County Communications Center received a call from the hospital at 3:10 p.m. that day in reference to a child who was unresponsive.
After officers responded to the call. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later, the release said. The cause of death was unknown, the release added.
