Heather Nicole Watkins and Dustin Lee Hopkins, both of Bassett, were married on Sept. 29 at Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett. Pastor Kirk Montgomery performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Lisa Watkins of Bassett. She is the granddaughter of Clyde and Mildred Watkins of Bassett and William and Christine Gillispie of Olathe, Kan., and Linda H. Gillispie of Martinsville.
The bridegroom is the son of Wanda and Dennis Hundley of Bassett and Raymond and Mary Ann Hopkins of Critz. He is the grandson of Bernice Hopkins of Spencer and the late Howard Hopkins, and the late Edward and Gerald Compton.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a vintage V-neck, A-line dress with lace cap sleeves and lace and beads and a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of red and white calla lilies with red feathers and small cattails in ribbon.
Maid of honor was Whitney Martin of Bassett. She wore a red chiffon and charmeuse dress with a rounded neckline. Her bouquet matched the bride’s.
Bridesmaids were Heather Shelton of Ridgeway, Liz Francis of Nathalie and Casie Sloane and Brandie Greer of Danville. Their dresses and bouquets matched those of the maid of honor.
Flower girl was niece of the bridegroom Gracie Doughton, daughter of Christy Mullins of Bassett and Brandon Daughton of Rocky Mount.
The bridegroom’s father, Raymond Hopkins, was the best man.
Groomsmen were brother of the bridegroom Jeremy Hopkins of Bassett, brother of the bride Justin Watkins of Spokane, Wash., Shannon Foster of Bassett and Brandon Sink of Martinsville.
A reception was held at Bassett Country Club.
The couple took a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
They live in Martinsville.
The bride is a 2007 graduate of Bassett High School and a 2012 graduate of Danville Regional Medical Center School of Nursing. She is a registered nurse at Moorehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C.
The bridegroom is a 2008 graduate of Bassett High School and attended Patrick Henry Community College. He is an automotive technician at Nelson Toyota.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: Aug. 5, a wedding shower at Rich Acres Christian Church, hosted by Betty Taylor, Lisa Watkins and Wanda Hundley; Aug. 18, a bachelorette party in Greensboro, N.C., hosted by Whitney Martin; and Sept. 28, a rehearsal dinner at Rania’s Restaurant in Martinsville, hosted by Lisa Watkins.
