A manhunt for a former Patrick County man who was wanted in Martinsville ended Saturday when the suspect turned himself in.
Kevin Allen Robinson, 22, of 307 Brown St., Martinsville, was wanted on a felony probation violation warrant issued by Patrick County authorities, according to news releases from the city and the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Lieutenant S.G. Pegram of the Martinsville Police Department, Robinson turned himself in at the Henry County magistrate’s office around 4 p.m. Saturday.
“It was without incident,” Pegram said.
He added that Robinson was turned over to the Patrick County Sheriff’s Department.
Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said his officers became involved in the case around 2:30 p.m. Friday after one of Robinson’s family members in Patrick initially told authorities that a threatening statement was made about schools over the telephone. That report later was amended to a threatening statement about harming law enforcement officers.
Authorities later confirmed that no threats about schools were made, the release stated. However, before that had been confirmed, Patrick County administrators and the school division decided to suspend some weekend school activities as a safety precaution.
