Man dies in wreck

The Virginia State Police is continuing to investigate a fatal single-vehicle accident Saturday evening.
Tonche Maurice Hodge, 39, of Axton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on U.S. 58, according to a State Police news release.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Saturday one quarter-mile east of Route 855 in Pittsylvania County, the release stated.
A 1990 Volvo S70 sedan driven by Hodge was traveling east when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment, according to the release. The vehicle then became airborne and struck a tree, the release added.
Hodge was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, the release stated.
