Mariah Cherelle Preston of Bassett and Christopher MarKeith Tyler of Martinsville were married on Nov. 24 at Day Star Ministries of Bassett. Godfather of the bride Dr. Avery Preston and grandfather of the bride Elwood Shreve performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Steven and Maryanne Preston of Bassett. She is the granddaughter of Elwood and Jewel Shreve of Reidsville, N.C.; Mae Preston of Bassett and the late Ernest Preston; and the late Carol Shreve.
The bridegroom is the son of Darlene Scott of Martinsville and Gerald Tyler of Richmond. He is the grandson of Betty Thomas of Martinsville.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an A-line, open-back, sleeveless lace gown with applique and a sweetheart neckline with a waist-length veil. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses, baby’s breath and teal ribbon.
Bridesmaids were cousin of the bride Courtney Penn of Roanoke, Lauren Snead of Bassett and Keia Price of Collinsville. They wore one-shoulder teal dresses and carried long-stem teal lilies.
Flower girls were cousin of the bride Naveah Craighead, daughter of Mancino and Takara Craighead of Martinsville; niece of the bride Mya Reynolds, daughter of Kristopher and Jaimie Reynolds of Newport News; and goddaughter of the bride Kyleigh Parsons, daughter of Lauren Snead of Bassett.
Groomsmen were Robert Crowder of Martinsville, brother of the bridegroom; Kristopher Reynolds of Newport News, brother of the bride; and Keyvon Wimbush of Bassett.
Ushers were cousins of the bride Mancino Craighead of Martinsville and Corey Taylor of Axton.
Ring bearer was nephew of the bride Kristian Reynolds, son of Kristopher Reynolds of Stuart and Jessica Slate.
A program of wedding music was provided by singers Takara Craighead of Martinsville and DeArra Kirby of Horsepasture and pianist Tynell Hairston of Martinsville.
A reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
The couple took a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
They live in Daegu, South Korea.
The bride is a 2010 graduate of Bassett High School and a 2012 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College with an associate degree in general studies.
The bridegroom is a 2010 graduate of Martinsville High School. He serves in the Army and is stationed at Camp Carroll in South Korea.
