Del. Don Merricks announced Wednesday that he will not seek re-election in November.
Merricks, R-Pittsylvania County, said the decision not to run again was difficult to make. However, Merricks, 61, said he plans to devote more time to his home specialty business in Danville.
Merricks has served in the House of Delegates since 2008.
