Erin Kathleen Joyce and Jerry Wayne Martin, both of Bassett, were married on May 18 at the Spencer Penn Center in Spencer. The Rev. Richard Randall performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Bernie and Linda Joyce of Bassett. She is the granddaughter of Chrystal Joyce of Bassett and the late Bernard E. Joyce and Betty Ruth Nolen of Bassett and the late Alfred C. Nolen.
The bridegroom is the son of Lisa Wingfield East of Bassett and Clifford Custer of Patrick Springs. He is the grandson of the late Tom and Viola Eanes.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a satin chiffon, A-line gown with a split front and cap sleeves and cowboy boots. She wore a veil with sequins and flower beading with a scalloped edge and a silver, pearl and crystal tiara. She carried a bouquet of daisies and lavender lenten roses tied with raffia, lace and ribbon.
Matron of honor was sister of the bride Ashley Joyce-Bagwell of Bassett. She wore a green eyelet sundress and cowboy boots and carried a hand-tied bouquet of multicolored daisies tied with raffia and burlap.
Bridesmaids were Laurie Prillaman of Martinsville, Mallaurie Boles of Roanoke, Christine Duncan of Roanoke and Amanda Chaney of Collinsville. Their dresses and bouquets were similar to those of the matron of honor.
Flower girls were niece of the bride Ellie Joyce-Bagwell, daughter of Scott and Ashley Joyce-Bagwell of Bassett, and cousin of the bridegroom Payton Horsley, daughter of Ken and Susie Horsley of Bassett.
Best man was cousin of the bridegroom Shane Turner of Mt. Airy, N.C.
Groomsmen were cousin of the bridegroom Justin Robertson of Martinsville; Jamie Fain of Bassett; David McGee of Charleston, S.C.; and brother-in-law of the bride Scott Bagwell of Bassett.
Ring bearer was nephew of the bride Westin Joyce-Bagwell, son of Scott and Ashley Joyce-Bagwell.
A program of wedding music was provided by singers Ken Horsley of Bassett, Ashley Joyce-Bagwell and Scott Bagwell.
A reception was held at Spencer Penn Centre.
The couple took a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Charleston, S.C.
They live in Bassett.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Bassett High School and attended Liberty University. She is employed by The Weigh Station in Roanoke.
The bridegroom is a 2006 graduate of Bassett High School and attended Patrick Henry Community College. He is employed by Steve Martin’s Trenching in Bassett.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: March 2, a household shower at the Patrick Henry Fire Department, hosted by family and friends; March 31, a kitchen gadget and recipe party at the home of Chrystal Joyce, hosted by her, Gloria Crawford, Pat Adams, Angie Wright and Ashley Joyce-Bagwell; May 9, a miscellaneous shower at Carlos’ Restaurant, hosted by the bride’s coworkers; and May 17, a rehearsal dinner at the home of Ed and Donna Nichols, hosted by them, Ken and Susie Horsley, Judy and Butch Farley, Joyce Turner and Lisa Winfield East.
