Yvette Désirée Flood and Herbert Lynn Hairston, both of Martinsville, were married on May 18 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Martinsville. Brother of the bride Jeffrey Corbett performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Frances Flood of Martinsville and the late Carlton W. Flood Sr. She is the granddaughter of the late Homer and Mae Hunt.
The bridegroom is the son of Margaret Hairston of Cascade. He is the grandson of the late Gracie and Hobert Perkins.
The bride was escorted by her brother Larry “Chuck” Flood of Danville. Her handmade gown by Shirley Stockton was of silver satin and organza overlay with sequin and pearl embroidery and a triangle back. She wore a tiara and a sheer silver satin veil. She carried a cascading bouquet of white lilies, red satin roses and baby’s breath with rubies, glass crystals and ribbons.
Maid of honor was Brooke Vaughn of Martinsville. Matron of honor was Denise Perkins of Martinsville. They wore red gowns with spaghetti straps. Each carried a single lily with baby’s breath, rubies, ribbons, lace and pearl pins.
Bridesmaids were Dawn Wade and Valerie Johnson, both of Martinsville. They wore red gown with spaghetti straps and red scarves. Each carried a single lily with red rubies and baby’s breath and silver and red ribbons.
Best man was brother of the bridegroom Aaron Hairston of Cascade.
Groomsmen were son of the bride Kyle Flood; Ricky Sharpe of Martinsville; and James Martin of Ridgeway.
Ring bearer was nephew of the bride Chance Flood, son of Larry and Amy Flood of Danville.
A reception was held at Dyers Store Ruritan Building.
The couple took a honeymoon in Comfort Inn Suites
They live in Martinsville.
The bride is a 1992 graduate of Martinsville High School and a 2002 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College. She is employed by Walmart.
The bridegroom attended Tunstall High School and is employed by Dependable Healthcare.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored on the following occasions: March 30, a lingerie shower at El Norteño Mexican Restaurant, hosted by Denise Perkins and Lessie Manns; and May 12, a bridal luncheon at the home of Carolyn Price, hosted by her.
