Karate and Tae Kwon Do students of Team Premier Championship Sports and Rutter’s Martial Arts of both Floyd and Bassett traveled to Hershey-Harrisburg, Pa. from Aug. 2-4 to compete in the State Games of America National Competition.

On Aug. 4, the students, ranging in ages 9 to 53, competed in weapons, forms and sparring. They won 10 national titles, 10 silver medals and 13 bronze medals in the national competition.

There were over 9000 competitors from across the U.S. in attendance. The students train under six-time world champion and five-time martial arts hall-of-famer Grand Master Scott Rutter.

The students competed at the Virginia Commonwealth Games on July 20 in Roanoke to qualify for the competition.

Fulcher records first hole-in-one

Renee Fulcher made her first career hole-in-one Saturday at Forest Park golf course in Martinsville.

Fulcher aced the hole on 137-yard No. 14 while using a 5 -hybrid. The shot was witnessed by Tresha Spencer.
