By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS -
Investigators with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office have located one of three county residents recently reported missing.
Henry County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Winn said Thursday night that Amanda “Mandy” Marie Savage, 25, of Bassett, has been reunited with her family. She told an investigator that she had not been held against her will.
Savage had last been seen Oct. 2.
Also reported missing were Vickie Harbour Purdy, 53, who was last seen by her husband on Oct. 3, and Ricky Eugene Dodson, 51, of Bassett, who was last seen mid-last week. Dodson was described as a white male who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 158 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.
Purdy, who is white, was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds.
Neither had been found Thursday, according to Winn.
Winn said authorities have talked to family members of those missing to apprise them of an investigation involving an unidentified body found Sunday in Franklin County.
A vehicle was found burned on Philpott Road in Franklin County with human remains inside. Franklin County investigators have said they think the vehicle was parked there within the past two weeks.
Winn said late Thursday afternoon that local authorities had recently talked to their colleagues in Franklin County and learned that “they still have not gotten any identification or other information back” from the state lab about the identity of the remains.
Authorities have said it appeared there was just one person in the car. They do not know if the person was male or female.
Winn has said missing persons reports often increase when a case in which an unidentified body is found receives media attention.
Anyone with information about the burned vehicle in Franklin County is asked to call Lt. Todd Maxey at (540) 483-6601. Anyone with any information about Purdy, Savage or Dodson is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 638-8751, or Crime Stoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463).
