The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has identified remains found Sunday in a burned vehicle as those of a Henry County woman reported missing last week.

Vicky Harbour Purdy, 53, last was seen Oct. 3, Henry County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Winn has said. In a news release Friday, Franklin authorities identified Purdy as the person in the burned vehicle.

“As a result of DNA analysis released today, we are confident that the remains located in the burned vehicle are those of Vicky Harbour Purdy,” Franklin County Sheriff W.Q. Overton Jr. said in the release.

The vehicle was found Sunday on Philpott Road, just inside Franklin County near the Henry County line.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the case.

“The sheriff’s office is still looking for anyone that may have information related to the fire and anyone who may have had recent contact with the victim,” the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Todd Maxey at (540) 483-6601.
